Happy National Margarita Day!

For those of you who do not know, today is a big holiday for us here at TalkDrinks, it's National Margarita Day! Today we celebrate this classic tequila cocktail by drinking Partida Margaritas (recipe below). As we sip on a celebratory drink tonight, we thank Don Carlos Orozco. Although some may debate, Don is credited most widely for the invention of the Margarita as a way to impress the daughter of a German Ambassador in a bar in Ensenada, Mexico. Margarita Henkel, the daughter, is who the cocktail we adore so is allegedly named after. Tonight, we toast to Don, Margarita and the bartenders across the US who make us smile each time the beautifully salt rimmed glass appears in front of us. PARTIDA MARGARITA
with 100% Organic Agave Nectar
1 1/2 oz Partida Blanco Tequila*
1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
3/4 oz Partida Agave Nectar
3/4 oz Water
Shake all ingredients with ice in a shaker.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or over
fresh ice into an old-fashioned glass.
Taste for balance.

Spice Up Santa's Late Night Treats with Partida Cookie Cocktails

Each year Santa works hard to deliver presents to countless amounts of homes in such a short time, and what he usually gets in return is only a plate full of sugar cookies and a glass of milk...

But what Santa could really use this year is a twist on his favorite holiday cookies, transforming them into sweet Cookie Cocktails!

This holiday season Tequila Partida has created 5 new Cookie Cocktails for you to either leave out for Santa or enjoy yourself at upcoming holiday gatherings.

 

Snickerdoodle:

1oz Partida Resposado Tequila

3/4oz Baileys

1/2oz Butterscotch Schnapps

3/4oz Cream

Splash of Cinnamon Schnapps

Cinnamon stick for garnish

Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake with ice.  Strain into martini glass and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Seven Layer Cookie:

3/4oz Godiva Liqueur

3/4oz Coconut Rum

1/2oz Butterscotch Schnapps

1/2oz Partida Anejo Tequila

1/4oz Frangelico

1/2oz Baileys

1/2oz Amaretto

Garnish rim of a martini glass with crushed cookie crumbs.  Shake all ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into martini glass. 

 

Chocolate Peppermint Cookie:

3/4oz Partida Blanco Tequila

1oz Peppermint Schnapps

3/4oz Godiva Liqueur

1-1/2oz cream

Chocolate syrup and candy canes for garnish

Rim martini glass with chocolate syrup and crushed candy canes.  Shake ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into martini glass.

 

Toasted Macaroon:

1 oz Coconut Milk

1-1/2oz Coconut Rum

1/4oz Licor 43

1/2oz Partida Blanco Tequila

1/2oz Frangelico

Combine ingredients in a shaker and shake with ice.  Strain into a glass filled with ice and garnish with toasted coconut shavings on top. 

 

Sugar Cookie:

2-1/2oz Partida Resposado Tequila

1 Tsp Brown Sugar

Brown Sugar for garnish

Rim a cordial glass with brown sugar.  Add tequila and brown sugar into a shaker with ice and hake ingredients well.  Strain into glass. 

 

Mix these up for friends and family to sip on and leave something special for Santa, as he does for you each year!

Recently, I was visiting some friends down in Orlando and found myself at 2 great restaurants in the city. What I found particularly interesting was that both Luma and The Ravenous Pig were both were making very interesting cocktails with Premium Tequila. Cilantro & Beer from Randolph at Broome

Here is a very interesting cocktail from our friend Jason Littrell who tends bar at Randolph at Broome. The Randolph is a fantastic cocktail bar that strikes the perfect balance between downtown dive and super-chic hot spot. Their upstairs has several booths line with mahogany walls, while their smaller basement lounge reminds us of the days of partying in your parents' unfinished basement. Cilantro and Beer
1 1/2oz Partida Anejo Tequila
1oz Fresh Lime Juice
3/4oz Simple Syrup
Negro Modelo Beer
Cilantro
Muddled the cilantro in your mixing glass. Add the first 3 ingredients, shake and strain into a collins glass. Top with Negro Modelo Beer. Garnish with fresh cilantro sprigs.

Apricot Gin Fizz - Hotlanta Times

We recently unveiled our spring cocktail menu at Beleza and the Apricot Gin Fizz is one of many cocktails on the menu that is turning out to be a crowd pleaser!  We infuse apricots in gin for about 4 to 5 days, and then strain the mixture to get the gin. We then take apricots along with sugar and water to make an apricot puree that also goes into the cocktail. Swing by and try the great drinks on our new spring cocktail menu. Apricot Gin Fizz
1.5oz apricot infused gin
0.5oz simple syrup
0.75oz fresh lemon juice
bar spoon of apricot puree
bottled soda
Shake and strain the first four ingredients into a Collins Glass with Collins Ice. Top off with soda and garnish with an apricot. 
(Note: We are also taking the apricots that were used in the infusion and putting them into a mixture of OJ and pineapple juice to pull some of the gin out of them. We then dehydrate them and re-use them as the garnish. That OJ/pineapple/gin juice that is left over makes a great Planter's Punch, too. Enjoy!)

Each hotel has the reputation for offering the most sought-after experiences of good living, charm, elegance and service, but maintains their own original character. They've created a series of very slick videos highlighting the many talented bartenders and mixologists across their properties. It is great to see bartenders who take pride in their craft.
